Knowledge-ethics mix must for success

Leadership quality based on codes of conducts and ethics coupled with knowledge and honestly are the key to success in today's competitive market.
 
Speaking at the 'Strategy Summit 2005' of ICFAI Business School (IBS), Kolkata S B Ganguly, chairman and chief executive officer, Exide Industries, said this leadership blend was an important ingredient of success.
 
Dharani P Sinha, chairman, COSMODE, spoke of the necessity of leadership across all spheres of the economy.
 
Speaking on the changing image of the country to the international world Sinha said, "Indian professionals are not liked by international community."
 
He said 'competitive cooperation' was a source of global economic development.
 
"Delivery of services through respect for competence, reduction in corruption and confidence in cooperation should be focus areas for companies," said Sinha.
 
Tension between Asian countries was hindering economic development.
 
India needs to changes herself from a saving driven economy to investment driven economy, pointed Pankaj Razdan, director, Pru ICICI AMC.
 
"A company needs to focus on customer oriented benefit to survive and grow. With barriers in business breaking up fast a company cannot afford to think anything besides customer satisfaction," said Razdan.
 
Reputation was the key to success and it came only through ethical practices, he added.
 
S S Badrinath, chairman, Sankara Nethralaya, was awarded the SREI Lifetime Achievement award on this occasion.
