106.62 lakh tn paddy procured in Punjab

Government agencies and private millers procured more than 106.62 lakh tonnes of paddy which arrived in the State till last evening.

Out of the total procurement in all the procurement centers of Punjab, government agencies procured the bulk 105.02 lakh tonnes of the paddy whereas private traders procured the remaining crop.

The Ludhiana district was leading the paddy arrival with 11,55,637 tonnes, an official spokesman said here. 

He said the state government has set up 1,700 procurement centers and activated its machinery to ensure smooth procurement of paddy.
