Barley rises in futures trade on spot demand

Barley futures traded Rs 20 higher at Rs 1,230 per quintal today, as traders enlarged their positions, tracking firm trend at spot markets.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange platform, barley for delivery in December contract to be delivered at Jaipur advanced by Rs 20 or 1.65 per cent to Rs 1,230 per quintal, with an open interest of 3,620 lots.

Likewise, barley for delivery in March contract also climbed Rs 22.20, or 2.01 per cent to Rs 1,124.20 per quintal, with an open interest of 260 lots. 

Marketmen said firming trend at the physical markets on better demand amid restricted supplies, mainly influenced the barley futures here.
