Crude palm oil up 0.4% on pick-up in spot demand

Prices went up as speculators created fresh positions

Press Trust of India Mumbai
Crude palm oil prices marginally up by Rs 2.10 to Rs 469.60 per 10 kg in futures trade today as speculators created fresh positions amid pick-up in demand in spot markets.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), crude palm oil for May delivery rose by Rs 2.10, or 0.44%, to Rs 469.60 per kg, with a trading volume of 185 lots.

Similarly, the oil for delivery in June went up by Rs 1.60, or 0.34%, to Rs 469.60 per 10 kg, with a business turnover of 211 lots.

Analysts said fresh positions created by speculators following pick-up in demand in spot markets, mainly led to a rise in crude palm oil prices at futures market.

Meanwhile, the oil climbed 1.10% to $772 a tonne on the Malaysia Derivatives Exchange (MDEX).
