FIIs net investment in India crosses $150 billion mark
FIIs have had net investment of $152 billion till 30 October, including $3.5 billion this month that took the total value above of $150 billion mark

Foreign Institutional investors have crossed $150 billion mark of net investments in Indian stocks in last two decades. As per the data published by capital markets regulator the Securities and Exchange Board of India FIIs have had net investment of $152 billion till 30 October, including $3.5 billion this month that took the total value above of $150 billion mark.
SEBI’s data that has record since November 1992 shows that FIIs have made $119.6 billion of net investment in equity and $32.4 billion in debt through stock exchanges, primary investments or other routes. As per the regulators records there are 1751 registered FIIs in India.
Sensex, benchmark index of Bombay Stock Exchange has risen to 18415 from 2929 in this period.
“Majority of this investment would have come during the bull market of 2004 to 2007, but the global money is restless,” says Jagannadham Thunuguntla, equity head at SMC Capitals, a Delhi based domestic brokerage. “Future will depend on how the RBI and finance ministry comes together to fuel the growth,” he said.
On Tuesday banking regulator Reserve Bank of India (RBI) lowered its gross domestic product (GDP) growth forecast to 5.7% from 6.5% for 2012-13.
