HCL Technologies has soared over 5% to Rs 1,073, also its historic high, in early noon deals on the National Stock Exchange (NSE).
The stock opened at Rs 1,017 and hit a low of Rs 1,011 so far. A combined 854,530 shares change hands on the counter till 1145 hours on NSE and BSE.
Information technology (IT) firm last week announced it has bagged a contract from Direct Energy, a North American energy services firm, to implement and manage residential billing and customer care operations. The company did not disclose the contract size.
Under the agreement, HCL Technologies will implement and manage residential billing and customer care operations of Direct Energy in the Alberta market, HCL Technologies said in a statement.
Meanwhile, the stock has outperformed the market by surging 73% so far in the current calendar year 2013 as compared to a 1% fall in benchmark CNX Nifty. CNX IT index has gained 39% during the same period.
