Press Trust of India New Delhi

Zinc prices fell marginally by 0.10% to Rs 103.05 per kg in futures trading today owing to slackened demand in the spot market even as the metal's position strengthened overseas.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in September traded marginally lower by 10 paise, or 0.10%, to Rs 103.05 per kg in business turnover of 23 lots.

August zinc weakened by five paise, or 0.05%, to Rs 102.35 per kg in 669 lots.

According to analysts, the decline in zinc futures was due to sluggish domestic demand. The metal's strength at the London Metal Exchange (LME), however, restricted the losses.

Zinc traded 0.60% higher at $1,807 per tonne at the LME.
