Markets languish as realty, bank stocks weigh

Auto and FMCG shares buck trends, trade marginally higher

Markets continued to trade near the day's low in late morning deals even as Congress leader, Rahul Gandhi spoke of positive ideas for India's growth in a CII meet.

In Asia meanwhile,Nikkei remained in green - up 0.8% at 12,469. Hang Seng,Kospi and Shanghai Composite however slipped 0.1-1.2% each.

"Many global markets are near their highs. While short term corrections cannot be ruled out, we could possibly witness this winning streak continuing on the global markets, barring unforeseen circumstances," said Ravi Nathani, Technical analyst, Nsetoday.com.

The rupee today lost 16 paise to 54.59 against the dollar in early trade on the Interbank Foreign Exchange due to continued capital outflows and increased demand from importers for the US currency.
 

Most sectoral indices slipped in trades.BSE realty index led the losses and was down 2% at 1,802. IT, bankex and consumer durables are also in red - down 1-2% each. On the other hand, BSE auto index is  up 0.4% at 9766.

Reliance Jio Infocomm and Reliance Communications (RCom) on Tuesday announced the signing of a definitive agreement for approximately Rs 1,200 crore as one time indefeasible right to use (IRU) fees for sharing RCom's nationwide inter-city fiber optic network infrastructure. Reliance is down 0.8% at Rs 771.

Dr Reddys Laboratories has moved higher by 2.5% at Rs 1,882 on NSE after the company announced that it has launched Zoledronic acid injection in the US market following approval by the US health regulator.

Tata Motors, Mahindra & Mahindra and HUL have added 1-1.5% each. Among other gainers are Maruti and Bharti Airtel. On the other hand, Infosys has slipped 2% at Rs 2,899. TCS and Tata Steel have slipped 1.8% each. HDFC, BHEL and Jindal Steel are in the red.
