Markets off day's high

Markets have pared gains in afternoon trades. The Sensex is up 145 points at 20,490.

The mid and small-cap indices have gained over 1% each in trades. The mid-cap index is up 85 points at 8,566. Small-cap index has jumped 129 points to 10,736.

BSE metal index has jumped 1.5% at 17,073. Consumer durables and healthcare indices are also in green.

Nifty has gained 0.4% to 6,170. Bank Nifty is up 0.9% at 12,888.

Sun Pharma has jumped 4% to Rs 2,274. Sterlite has added 3% to Rs 175.

Kotak Mahindra Bank and IDFC are the banking gainers and have moved up 2.5% each.

ACC and Ambuja Cements are gaining in the cement space. Tata Steel, TCS, Sesa Goa and BHEL are among the top gainers in the Nifty.

However, BPCL has shed 1% at Rs 764. Jaiprakash Associates and Cipla are also in red.
