No decision on edible oil import duty cut

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs did not take any decision today on cutting edible oil import duty, Information and Broadcasting Minister and Cabinet spokesperson Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi said.

"The issue (of duty cut) was discussed, but no decision was taken. I am briefing you on issues I have been asked to," Dasmunsi told reporters after the cabinet meeting.

Earlier, Rural Development Minister Raghuvansh Prasad had told reporters that the government had decided to cut the import duty on edible oils.
