Potato declines 2% on adequate supply

Low spot demand influences prices

Press Trust of India New Delhi

Potato prices moved down by 2.07% to Rs 706.30 per quintal in futures trade today on adequate supplies, following fresh arrivals from producing belts, against lower demand.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, potato for delivery in April moved down by Rs 14.90, or 2.07%, to Rs 706.30 per quintal, with a business turnover of 18 lots.

October potato traded lower by Rs 2.80, or 0.26%, to Rs 1,080 per quintal, with a business turnover of 23 lots.

Experts said increased supplies due to fresh arrivals from producing belts against lower demand kept pressure on potato futures.
