Rice maintains uniform rate in Mysore market

Despite a fall in market arrivals by 3,402 quintals, rice maintained uniform price as in the previous week in the Mysore agricultural produce market during the week-ending March 11.
 
A quintal of rice remained at Rs 800 and Rs 2,200 at the minimum and maximum levels, while its supply to the market was only 5,055 quintals. Paddy also registered a marginal shortfall by 25 quintals with only 319 quintals coming to the market. It yielded Rs 27 more at the minimum, but got Rs 93 less at the other end of the price. It was sold at Rs 467 and Rs 690 at the minimum and maximum levels.
 
Similar was the position of ragi. The supply was short by 38 quintals compared to last week.
 
It fetched Rs 20 more at the minimum level yielding Rs 376, while it was sold at Rs 486, a fall of Rs 10 at the maximum level. The market saw 179 quintals of arrivals during the week.
 
The prices of maize saw an upward trend, yielding Rs 11 and Rs 23 more a quintal at the two ends, despite a higher arrival by 700 quintals to the market. The price rose to Rs 450 at the minimum level and to Rs 531 at the maximum level. Around 1,038 quintals were brought to the market.
 
On the other hand, Hassan market maintained same rates as the previous week, Rs 450 and Rs 500 a quintal of maize. The market saw increased arrivals by 400 quintals, touching a total of 2,651 quintals.
 
However, potato prices fell by Rs 100 at the minimum base and by Rs 50 at the maximum level, fetching Rs 500 and Rs 750, respectively in the same Hassan market.
 
Potato arrivals were a little less than half the quantum of last week, 822 quintals.
 
Since about a month, coconut prices are witnessing a higher trend in the Arsikere market. This week also, prices rose by Rs 500 at the minimum and by Rs 305 at the maximum end, fetching Rs 3,500 and Rs 6,626 per 1,000 coconuts. About five weeks ago, its price ranged between Rs 2,500 and Rs 5,600. The market also witnessed a shortfall by 13,185 coconuts, with around 34,395 coconuts coming to the market.
 
In the Mandya market, jaggery ruled at the same rate as last week in the beginning, but saw a fall by Rs 5 a quintal at the maximum end. It yielded Rs 900 and Rs 1,345, respectively.
 
The supply was short by 953 quintals, the arrival being 3,126 quintals.
 
The arecanut price fetched a higher rate of Rs 100 in the Mangalore market, at the maximum end it fell to the previous week's level, yielding Rs 6,532 per quintal.
 
At the minimum point, the price offered was Rs 4,800 a quintal. Around 3,129 quintals came to the market, short by 501 quintals over the previous week.
