Sensex drops 87pts from open

After opening with a positive gap of 21 points at 10,002, the Sensex soon plunged into the negative zone to touch a low of 9915 - down 87 points from open. The index is now down 47 points at 9934.

Cipla has surged 3.8% to Rs 549.

TCS, Ranbaxy and Tata Steel have gained over 1% each to Rs 1,644, Rs 445 and Rs 390, respectively.

ITC has shed 2.6% to Rs 158, and HLL has dropped 1.5% to Rs 228.

Hindalco has slipped 2% to Rs 151.

ICICI Bank, Larsen & Toubro, Grasim and Tata Power have declined over 1% each to Rs 579, Rs 2,258, Rs 1,599 and Rs 483, respectively.
