Sensex flat in early trades; Maruti drops 8%

The NSE Nifty is up 11 points at 4,171.

BHEL has surged 3% to Rs 1,551.

HDFC Bank and Tata Steel have advanced nearly 2% each to Rs 1,103 and Rs 609, respectively.

Reliance Infrastructre has moved up 1.3% to Rs 872. NTPC and Satyam have advanced over 1% each to Rs 184 and Rs 371, respectively.

Wipro, Ambuja Cements and Hindalco are up 1% each at Rs 377, Rs 82 and Rs 144, respectively.

Maruti has plunged over 8% to Rs 594.

Jaiprakash Associates has shed 2.5% at Rs 163. Bharti Airtel has dropped 1.7% to Rs 785.

Ranbaxy and ICICI Bank have slipped 1.3% each to Rs 452 and Rs 636, respectively.
