Sensex flat; NTPC down 2%

The Sensex is now down three points at 11,703.

Ranbaxy has gained 1.5% at Rs 402. Dr.Reddy's and HDFC have advanced 1% each to Rs 720 and Rs 1,304, respectively.

Tata Motors, Maruti and HLL are the other smart gainers.

NTPC has slipped nearly 2% to Rs 125. Reliance Communications, Reliance Energy and Tata Steel have advanced over 1.5% each to Rs 304, Rs 441 and Rs 509, respectively.

Out of 2,480 stocks traded so far, 1,430 have declined, 972 have advanced and the rest are unchanged.
