Sensex up 137pts; Wipro surges 3%

The Sensex is now up 137 points at 14,404.

Bharti Airtel has soared 5% to Rs 769. Wipro has surged 3.3% to Rs 643.

Gujarat Ambuja, HDFC, Reliance Communications and Satyam have advanced around 2.5% each to Rs 143, Rs 1,715, Rs 485 and Rs 486, respectively.

Tata Steel has gained 2% at Rs 467. Cipla and Larsen & Toubro are up 1.5% each at Rs 250 and Rs 1,625, respectively.

Out of 2,582 stocks traded so far, 1,643 have advanced, 871 have declined and 68 are unchanged.
