Sensex up 292pts; Ranbaxy slips 2%

| The Sensex is now up 292 points at 18,572. Larsen & Toubro and Bharti Airtel have zoomed over 4% each to Rs 3,299 and Rs 1,082, respectively. Reliance Energy has soared 3% to Rs 1,581. Hindalco has surged 2.8% to Rs 169. Reliance Communications has rallied 2.5% to Rs 723. BHEL and ONGC have gained 2% each at Rs 2,283 and Rs 1,004, respectively. Infosys, Tata Motors and ICICI Bank have moved up 1.8% each to Rs 2,085, Rs 806 and Rs 1,064, respectively. ACC and Tata Steel have advanced 1.5% each to Rs 1,195 and Rs 848, respectively. Grasim, TCS and Mahindra & Mahindra are up 1.3% each at Rs 3,650, Rs 1,111 and Rs 748, respectively. Ranbaxy has shed 2% to Rs 418. Bajaj Auto is down 1% at Rs 2,618. Out of 2,617 stocks traded so far, 1,449 have advanced, 1,102 have declined and 66 are unchanged. |
