Sensex up 40pts; Reliance perks up

The Sensex has gained 40 points at 11,747.

Ranbaxy has surged 2% to Rs 403. Grasim has rallied 1.7% to Rs 2,261, and Tata Motors has added 1.4% to Rs 857.

Dr.Reddy's, Maruti and Reliance are up 1% each at Rs 720, Rs 865 and Rs 1,129, respectively.

HDFC and HLL, Satyam and SBI are the other significant stocks.

Reliance Energy and Tata Steel have slipped 1.4% each to Rs 442 and Rs 510, respectively.

Reliance Communications and NTPC are down over 1% each to Rs 306 and Rs 126, respectively.

Out of 2,532 stocks traded so far, 1,373 have declined, 1,081 have advanced and the rest are unchanged.
