Turmeric prices moved down by 0.46% to Rs 4,730 per quintal in futures trade today amid subdued spot demand, though tight supply conditions in the market restricted the losses.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, April turmeric fell by Rs 22, or 0.46%, to Rs 4,730 per quintal, with an open interest for 9,995 lots.

The May contract lost Rs 14, or 0.31%, to Rs 4,544 per quintal, with an open interest for 4,125 lots.

Market analysts said sluggish demand in the spot market mainly put pressure on turmeric prices in futures trade, but a decline in supply of older crops, limited the losses.
