US markets up as interest rates decline

Sharp drop in interest rates, improving labour market conditions and rising commodity prices buoyed US markets on Thursday.

The Dow added 32 points to 8,771. The Nasdaq gained nine points to 1,862.

Indian ADRs were up. Tata Communications soared 9% to $22.04.

MTNL surged 7% to $4.91. Sterlite rallied 6% to $14.84.

Genpact, Wipro and HDFC Bank added 2% each to $11.33, $12.91 and $109.33, respectively.

However, Satyam plunged 13% to $4.3. Patni Computers slipped 4% to $10.46.
