Weakness persists; Ranbaxy up 6%

The Sensex is now down 371 points at 12,685.

Sterlite and Tata Steel have tumbled over 7.5% each to Rs 396 and Rs 406, respectively.

ICICI Bank has slumped 6.6% to Rs 515, and Reliance has shed 6% at Rs 1,794.

Tata Power has plunged 5% to Rs 900. Bharti Airtel has dropped 4.5% to Rs 755.

Tata Motors and Infosys have slipped over 3.5% each to Rs 327 and Rs 1,403, respectively.

Larsen & Toubro, Satyam, TCS and Reliance Infrastructure have declined 3% each to Rs 1,177, Rs 309, Rs 651 and Rs 758, respectively.

Reliance Communications has shed 2.5% at Rs 335, and HDFC is down 2% at Rs 2,161.

 

Ranbaxy has soared nearly 6% to Rs 266. Mahindra & Mahindra has moved up 1.7% to Rs 515.

Out of 2,524 stocks traded so far, 1,753 have declined, 712 have advanced and the rest are unchanged.
