Zinc futures up 1.9% on global cues

Zinc futures prices rose by Rs 2.05, or 1.90 per cent, to Rs 110.15 per kg today, as traders created positions, driven by by firming trend overseas.

Zinc for delivery in October traded at Rs 2.05, or 1.90 per cent higher, at Rs 110.15 per kg, with a business turnover of 2,241 lots at the Multi Commodity Exchange platform.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in November traded higher by Rs 1.85, or 1.70 per cent, to Rs 110.95 per kg, with an open interest of 321 lots.

Marketmen said firming trend in the entire base metals pack at the London Metal Exchange (LME) due to weaker dollar raised appeal of the commodities as an alternative investment, helped zinc futures to trade higher.

 


Meanwhile, zinc rose 1.9 per cent to $2,520 a metric tonne on the LME.
