Aguero strikes as Man City claim 1-0 PL win over spirited Sunderland

Forward Sergio Aguero scored the decisive goal to help Manchester City outclass Sunderland 1-0 in their Premier League clash at the Stadium of Light.

The 27-year-old Argentine's 17th goal of the season was enough to claim victory in a hard-fought battle against Sunderland.

It was in the 16th minute of the match when Aguero netted a match-winning goal to help City maintain their Premier League title hopes.

Meanwhile, Sunderland, with debutant Lamine Kone and Jan Kirchhoff,also gave a tough competition to the City but failed to score any goal.

Reflecting on City's performance,manager Manuel Pellegrini admitted that it was a really tough game, but added that his side managed to achieve good result, the Guardian reported.

 

Pellegrini, who was taking charge of his 100th league game, will be succeeded by current Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola next season.

Pellegrini, who guided City to Premier League glory in the 2013-14 season, had announced that he would leave the Etihad on the original date which was June 30.

City, which are currently second in the league standings, will next lock horns with surprise leaders Leicester City on Saturday.
