The Allahabad High Court has cleared the deck for the allotment of mining lease for excavation of sand and minerals in Uttar Pradesh.

The court's decision came after it vacated its earlier stay order by dismissing a bunch of writ petitions challenging the allotment.

A division bench comprising Justice Tarun Agarwal and Justice S N Shukla said that the writ petition filled was misconceived.

Earlier on September 16 this year, the court had passed a stay order on mining over a writ petition. But Advocate General Vijay Bahadur Singh asserted that the petition filed was not maintainable.

He further pleaded to the court, stating that because of the stay order, the mining operations have completely stopped in the state, and more than 50 lakh workers have become unemployed.
