The much awaited Mumbai metro service today saw Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan and Reliance ADA group chairman; Anil Ambani coming together at its inauguration. Tina Ambani was also present at the inaugural ceremony.

Chavan flagged off the metro from Versova station in western suburb.

There had been a row over the fare of the metro between the state government and Rinfra where Reliance Infrastructure demanded a steep increase in fare prices. Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan, however, did not consent to the hike in prices.

The Metro will link Andheri station on the Western Railway line to Ghatkopar on Central Railway line.

The much awaited metro service comes four months after the city got the country's first monorail between suburban Chembur and Wadala on February 01 earlier this year.
