The National Communist Party (NCP) on Wednesday dubbed the Bajrang Dal's move to organise 'self-defence' in Uttar Pradesh's Ayodhya city as an act of nuisance, saying it is clear violation of laws and Akhilesh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party Government should take note of it.

NCP leader Majeed Memon said it is quite strange that a group of people have gathered together with swords and rifles in the name of self-defence.

"It is nothing, but a clear violation of laws and it is Akhilesh ji's responsibility to maintain law and order in the state. I am glad that after pulling a few threads the government has at last filed an FIR against the activists," he added.

The NCP leader criticised Uttar Pradesh Governor Ram Naik for backing this 'self-defence' camp, saying his comment is uncalled for.

Naik had earlier said there is no harm in self-defence camps, adding that one must understand the intention behind them.

"All kinds of education, teaching, self defence is important and it should be continued at all costs. How can those who can't defend themselves, defend the society? Self defence must be taught in schools and other institutions," he told the media yesterday.

An FIR has been lodged late last night against the Bajrang Dal activists following a video which showed the cadres taking part in a mock drill where men wearing skull caps have been portrayed as terrorists.

Faizabad Superintend of Police Sankalp Sharma told ANI that the FIR has been registered under Section 153 A- for promoting enmity between different groups and added that the matter is being investigated.

In the annual self-defence camp, the Bajrang Dal cadres are trained to use rifles, swords and sticks so that they can 'protect the Hindus.

Similar camps would be held till June 5 in Sultanpur, Gorakhpur, Pilibhit, Noida and Fatehpur cities in the state.
