The Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) has decided to opt out of the central trade unions' proposed strike on September 2 for a 12-point charter of demands.

BMS General Secretary Virjesh Upadhyay said a decision has been taken in this regards in view of the government's positive assurances on union's basic demands.
Upadhyay further said, "Strike is not the best way out at present".
The BMS' decision to pull out was taken at a meeting of its core committee in New Delhi. However, the remaining ten trade unions decided to go ahead with their strike.
A high-level group of senior ministers had met top union leaders to convince them to withdraw their strike and had also promised to look into their various demands, including minimum wages, contract labour and social security.
A recent government survey had ranked the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) as India's largest trade union body with a membership of 62 lakh.
