The national executive member of BJP's Assam unit, Prodyut Bora, has held destruction of inner democracy in the party at the national level as the reason for his decision to quit.

"I have two sets of reason for which I have resigned; one at the macro level is the general drift of the party. I am extremely uncomfortable with the destruction of inner democracy in the party at the national level. This disappointment has been compounded by the fact that the behaviour at the national level has been copied at the state level," Bora told ANI here.

"It was said that the president presides, the team decides. I am not sure anymore that the decisions are being made by the teams within the BJP," he added.

Bora alleged that there is an immense amount of political corruption among the MPs and MLAs of BJP's Assam unit.

"Outwardly, they are BJP MPs and MLAs and inwardly they are remote controlled by the Congress," he added.

Basu further said he is shocked that the BJP national leadership is planning to induct Himanta Biswa Sarma, the most corrupt politician in Assam, from the Congress.

"So, all these reasons combined made me realise that the most honourable thing to do is to resign from the Bharatiya Janata Party," he added.
