Cabinet gives nod for highway projects for all-weather connectivity in J-K

The Union Cabinet has given its approval for four highway projects in Jammu and Kashmir for all-weather connectivity in the Valley.
According to reports, the Cabinet has also enhanced fund allocation by over Rs.8,000 crores to around Rs.28,324 crores under the National Highways Development Project for the state.
The highways projects are Srinagar-Banihal, Qazigund-Banihal, Chenani-Nashri and Jammu-Udhampur.
These projects are expected to reduce the journey time from Jammu to Srinagar and strategic border areas in the state besides helping to boost the economy and provide employment potential to locals in project activities.
