Capt Amarinder Singh reiterates demand for President's rule in Punjab, LS adjourned till 2 p.m.

ANI New Delhi

Reiterating his demand for imposition of President's rule in Punjab in wake of the Moga molestation case, former chief minister and senior Congress leader Captain Amarinder Singh on Tuesday said such incidents will continue to take place till the law is not strengthened in the state.

The Amritsar MP said several similar incidents have taken place in Punjab under the SAD-BJP regime.

"Several incidents have taken place. A similar incident took place a day after the Moga incident. These things will continue to take place till there is no law and order. Yes, because of the total breakdown of the law and order, we have asked for the President's rule," he said.

The repeated demand for justice from the opposition forced Speaker Sumitra Mahajan to adjourn proceedings till 2 p.m.

The former chief minister had yesterday alleged that the law and order machinery has collapsed in Punjab and demanded the imposition of President's rule in the state.

He also said that fear and insecurity is prevailing among the people because of incidents similar to the Moga case.

After the Moga incident in which a teenage girl died after she and her mother were allegedly pushed off a moving bus for resisting a molestation bid on April 29, another woman was molested on a bus in

Punjab.

The 35-year-old woman was allegedly molested by a fellow passenger inside a moving bus near Punjab's Khanna city. The incident took place on Sunday after the woman boarded a bus bound for Sahnewal at Sirhind.

Acting on the woman's complaint, the police arrested the driver and conductor of the bus and launched a massive hunt for the main accused. The police also released his identity sketch yesterday.
