Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Venkaiah Naidu on Wednesday said that the Congress Party is stalling the progress of the country with continuous disruption of both houses over the National Herald case, and added that such a move by the grand old party is a real threat to democracy.

"Congress trying to stall important legislations through unconstitutional and undemocratic methods. This is a real threat to democracy," Naidu told a press conference here.

Naidu also said that the Congress Party is not able to accept the mandate given to Prime Minister Narendra Modi by the people and they are playing vendetta politics against the people of the country.

"They want to stall the progress of the country. They don't want Parliament to function. They don't want bills to be passed. The biggest danger is that they are not accepting the mandate of the people. This is the basic principle of the democracy that you have to accept the verdict of the people," Naidu said.

The Delhi High Court on Monday had dismissed the plea of Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi to quash a trial court's summons to them in the National Herald case.
The Congress termed it as "petty vendetta politics of the BJP".
