The Chennai Super Kings have earned their third victory in the seventh season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) by defeating Rajasthan Royals by seven runs in Dubai on Wednesday.
Despite a narrow margin set by Dhawal Kulkarni's 28 off 19 balls and an impressive bowling spell by his team the Royals, however, they failed to reach the target of 140 for six made by CSK and threw away their chances against simple, controlled spin at 133 for the loss of ten wickets.
According to Sport24, Chennai will take the win with gratitude, but they too will reflect on their innings as only Dwayne Smith showed any initiative after they were put in to bat, while they can also be thankful for the fact that they gained 11 runs they gained from Royal wides, four of which came from in one over from Kulkarni.
Meanwhile, Ravindra Jadeja (36) and Ravichandran Ashwin played well to push the score to a point which gave their bowlers a chance, aided by the Royals' meltdown, and Jadeja's 36 runs and four wickets earned him a well-deserved Man of the Match award, the report added.
