Cuba Gooding Jr. and Sarah Paulson have been added to the star cast of the new anthology, dubbed as 'American Crime Story
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the first season, from the creators of Glee and American Horror Story, would be based on Jeffrey Toobin's best-selling book The Run of His Life: The People v. O.J. Simpson.
Written by Golden Globe winners Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski, the duo, along with original producers Brad Simpson and Nina Jacobson, moved with the former Fox project to FX, where they will pen the first two episodes.
The 10-episode first season examines the O.J. Simpson trial as told from the perspective of the lawyers, and would be poised to explore the chaotic behind-the-scenes dealings and maneuvering on both sides of the court. More significantly, it would display how a combination of prosecution confidence, defense wiliness and the LAPD's history with the city's African-American community gave a jury what it needed: reasonable doubt.
Gooding is set as the former NFL star-turned-murder defendant, while Paulson will play prosecutor Clark.
