Ebola surviving British nurse finds 'Band Aid 30' song 'cringeworthy'

British nurse, William Pooley, who survived the deadly Ebola has said that Bob Geldof's 'Band Aid 30' single is "cringeworthy" and "a bit much."

While talking to the Radio Times magazine, Pooley, who's been treating Ebola sufferers at an isolation unit in Sierra Leone, said that though the album was definitely being talked about amongst his colleagues, the lyrics of 'Do They Know It's Christmas?' were a bit much as it talked about "death in every tear", the BBC reported.

He said that it showed "cultural ignorance," and Africa was still on this very planet where people lived normally like the rest of the world.

 

Meanwhile, Emeli Sande, who sings on the album, has also said that the lyrics need to be tweaked, and it has been criticised by Lily Allen and Fuse ODG, who had refused to be a part of the song.

Earlier, before Pooley commented on the single, Geldof, had said that it he didn't care about the song being criticized saying that it was a "pop song, and not a doctoral thesis."

Pooley, who comes from Eyke in Suffolk, has been working with the local staff who he said were heroes for "risking death," and working even they hadn't been paid for months.
