Experts have claimed that Islamic State (IS) executioner "Jihadi John" may have been killed by U.S.-led coalition airstrikes and replaced by the terror outfit after a video clip purportedly showing the beheading of Japanese hostage Kenji Goto surfaced online.

After analysing the video, Jihadism researcher Charlie Winter said that "Jihadi John" may be dead as it is very obvious that the IS has replaced him, reported The Dailystar.

The statement comes as experts observed that the executioner in recent beheading videos appear to have a different posture and body size in comparison to the killer in some of the previous video clips involving David Haines, James Foley, Steven Sotloff, Peter Kassig and Alan Henning.

Professor Peter Neumann, a terrorism expert at London King's College, also noted that murderer is likely to have been killed as he is no longer "identifiable" in the recent beheading video.
