Highlights of Railway Budget (Part-3)

Railways Minister Suresh Prabhu is presenting the Railway Budget for fiscal 2015-16 in Parliament.

The highlights are as follows:

. Safety is of paramount importance.

. To prevent fire in coaches, Railways will install train protection warning and train collision avoiding systems.

.Railways to introduce a technology portal to invite innovative technological solutions.

. Railways proposes to move from preventive to predictive maintenance.

. Railways to launch foreign rail technology cooperation scheme.

. Railways to set up 'Kayakalp' to help in technology upgradation.

. Railways to decentralise, deregulate and delegate to make freight business simpler.

. Railways to get a system audit conducted within next two months

.Railways Plan size increased by 52%; 41.6% GBS; 17.8% internal generation.
