ANI New Delhi [India]

President Pranab Mukherjee, who on Friday visited the Janaki Mandir in Nepal, announced that the Indian Government will construct two 'Dharmshalas' along the Parikrama Path of Janakpur Dham to facilitate pilgrims visiting this ancient city.

Following the visit, the President wrote in the Visitor's Book "My visit to the Janaki Mandir in this holy city of Janakpur has been memorable. This important pilgrimage destination is one of the most significant focal points of the cultural and spiritual linkages between India and Nepal.

"I am confident that the twin-city agreement between Janakpur and the ancient Indian city of Ayodhya will further strengthen the close bonds and enhance the co-operation between our two peoples - particularly in the development of trade and tourism in this region," said a press statement.

He also offered his greetings to the people on the festival of Chhath.
