In a special moment for Indian poetry and literature, House of the Peruvian Literature ( Casa de la Literatura Peruana ) in Peru's capital Lima has invited Indian poet-diplomat Abhay K to recite his poems and have a literary dialogue with the Peruvian poet Oscar Limache on May 5.
The event, supported by Indian Cultural Centre and Embassy of India, Peru and Bolivia, has drawn the interest of the literary community of Peru and is likely to strengthen India-Peru relations in literary field.
Ambassador of India to Peru and Bolivia Sandeep Chakravorty and Peruvian dignitaries will grace the occasion.
Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore's connections with poet Victoria Ocampo of Argentina is well known however there are several other not so well literary connections between India and Latin American countries.
Brazilian poet Cecelia Meireles spent several months in India and wrote a number of poems during her stay which have been published as a book and translated into English as Traveling and Meditating- Poems of Cecelia Meireles written in India. Nobel Laureate Octavio Paz was Mexico's Ambassador to India and wrote several book and poems during his tenure in India.
Abhay K, well known for his Earth Anthem (translated in 27 languages), SAARC Song and the collection of poems 'The Seduction of Delhi' is author of seven books and has received the SAARC Literary Award 2013 for his contribution to poetry in South Asia and has been nominated for Pushcart Prize. His poems have been translated into a dozen languages and appeared in major poetry journals across the world. Oscar Limache is the winner of Cope Prize for poetry.
