Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday joined social activist Anna Hazare at his protest against the Central government's Land Acquisition ordinance.

"The Land Acquisition ordinance is anti-farmers and anti-poor, we strongly condemn it. If this Land Acquisition ordinance is passed, this Government will act like a property dealer for big corporate honchos," Kejriwal said, while addressing fellow protestors at the Jantar Mantar.

"The matter of property and land in Delhi comes under the Centre, but we will ensure that nobody's land is acquired by forceful means," he added.

Kejriwal also had words of praise for Hazare, who was his mentor during the India Against Corruption (IAC) movement before the two fell out over Kejriwal's decision to launch the Aam Aadmi Party.

Hazare's protest at Jantar Mantar also saw the participation of senior Aam Aadmi Party leader Yogendra Yadav and Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK) general secretary Vaiko.

The social activist has lashed out at the BJP-led government for removing provisions which provided for taking a farmer's consent before acquiring his land. He has called for the government to take back the bill, as well as looking out for ways to improve the condition of farmers.
