Naxal surrenders in Jharkhand, receives cheque of rupees 50,000

A hardcore Maoist surrendered before Jharkhand's police and was handed over a cheque of rupees 50,000 under the Government's surrender policy.
Rebel Anil Singh gave himself up and also deposited a carbine and a rifle to the Director General of Police (DGP) of Jharkhand, Rajeev Kumar, at a function in Khunti district.
Singh was handed over a cheque of rupees 50,000 under government's surrender policy.
"Slowly the Maoists are also realising that it is better to lead a normal life after surrendering. So far, this year five to six of them have surrendered and I think more such people are likely to follow in coming days because we are going to make surrender policy more attractive," said Kumar.
