Odd-even phase 2:Over 800 fined on Day 1

As many as 884 people were challaned by the Delhi Traffic Police for violating the odd-even norms on the first day of second phase in the national capital on Friday.

The highest number of challans was recorded in the southern part of the city, followed by west and central Delhi.

The actual impact of the scheme will be known only on Monday, the first full working day after the second phase roll out.

Under the road-rationing formula, private cars having odd registration numbers can ply only on odd dates and the even numbers on even dates, subjected to a set of exemptions.

The rules under the scheme are applicable between 8 a.m to 8 p.m, except on Sundays.

 

Delhi Metro and DTC have increased their services in order to accommodate load of passengers during the scheme.
