New Arsenal signing Mesut Ozil has lifted his side to a 2-0 victory over Italian aide Napoli in their Champions League Group F clash at the Emirates stadium on Wednesday, keeping fans' hopes alive of ending a trophy drought this season.

German playmaker Ozil, who was a 42 million-pound arrival from Spanish giants Real Madrid, timed his run to perfection and fired an impressive left-footed shot into the net to lift Arsenal to an echo of their Invincibles era and making his first goal since his arrival.

According to the Mirror, Arsene Wenger's men dismantled Benitez's new protegees with an exhibition of brilliant midfield movement, passing and style, with Ozil at the heart of everything, although Aaron Ramsey and Mathieu Flamini also provided the energy and work to keep Arsenal going.

Arsenal wrapped up the game before half-time, with the second goal being scored by striker Olivier Giroud with 15 minutes of Ozil, and the report added that the club looks like genuine contenders in the Premier League title race and a major threat in Europe.
