Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday announced an ex-gratia of Rs. two lakh for the next of kin of those killed in Bharatpur wedding hall collapse incident.

The Prime Minister also announced a compensation of Rs. 50,000 for those injured in the collapse.

At least 25 people were killed and 28 sustained injuries after a wedding hall collapsed in Bharatpur, Rajasthan last night.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje is also likely to visit the incident spot.

District Magistrate N.K. Gupta said that a thunderstorm and rainfall in the district caused the wedding house to collapse.

"To protect themselves from the rain, some guests tried to stand under a wall, which subsequently collapsed, killing 22 and injuring over 28 people, out of which two have been critically injured. They have been hospitalised and are being attended to by a team of doctors," he said.
