Secretary (West) in the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Navtej Sarna, on Wednesday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's trip to Kazakhstan was a successful one and added that various crucial issues, including defence cooperation and terrorism, were discussed between the two sides.
"We focused on the need to work closer on defence cooperation and to combat extreme forces of terrorism. It was an amazing personal chemistry between the two leaders. Overall, it was a very successful visit," said Sarna.
Prime Minister Modi, who wrapped up his two-day visit to Kazakhstan during which he held discussion with President Nursultan Nazarbayev, is presently in Russia in the third leg of his six-nation visit to participate in the seventh BRICS Summit.
