Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday thanked the Roatarian Community after they declared that they would take up the Swachh Bharat Mission on a priority basis all over India.
"I welcome this gesture by Rotarian Community. Such efforts add lot of strength to Swachh Bharat Mission. My best wishes. #MyCleanIndia," tweeted Prime Minister Modi.
Earlier in the day, Parliamentary Affairs Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu signed the Swacch Bharat Declaration at the Rotary Governors' conference in Chennai.
The 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' was launched nationwide to focus on sanitation, hygiene and waste management.
It encourages people to sweep, remove garbage, debris and unauthorized encroachments from roads, markets and residential places.
The 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' aims at making India a clean country by 2019, the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
