Poonam Yadav bagged a four-wicket haul to help the Indian women cricket team claim a massive 107-run win in the opening ODI of the three-match series against Sri Lanka here at JSCA International Stadium Complex on Monday.

In reply to India's 245 for six, Sri Lanka failed to built partnerships as they were bundled out for mere 138 runs.

Opener Prasadani Weerakkody was the top scorer for the visitors with a valiant 69 before being dismissed by Poonam.

For India, Rajeshwari Gayakwad and Deepti Sharma scalped two wickets each while Shikha Pandey also chipped in with a wicket.

Earlier, Indian opener Smriti Mandhana and Harmanpreet Kaur smashed 55 and 50 respectively for the hosts after being asked to bat first.

Skipper Mithali Raj (49) also provided substantial support to her team and fell one run short of completing her half century.

With the win, India have taken a 1-0 lead in the series against Sri Lanka. The two sides will play the second ODI at the same venue on February 17.
