The Centre has set up a review committee for the restructuring of the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE).
This step has been taken in order to enable it to address the challenges of the growing complexities and expansion in technical education sector.
Earlier, the cabinet had given its approval for the implementation of AICTE 2010 norms in regard to pay scales and service conditions in the National Power Training Institute (NPTI), for its teachers/faculty members to the extent as applicable in the case of 'Technical Institutions.
NPTI has been set up to function as a national organization for training in the field of operation and maintenance of power stations and other aspects of electrical energy systems, including transmission.
To meet the needs of the power sector, NPTI also started conducting AICTE approved B.E. / B.Tech. and MBA (Power Management) courses.
