Rural folk participating in the two-week long regional Saras Fair-2016 here were left in tears when stalls set up by them collapsed in a heap due to heavy rains.
Organized by the Manipur State Rural Livelihood Mission (MSRLM), the fair kicked off on Friday at Imphal's Tiddim Ground, and much to everyone's dismay, the pandals collapsed.
There were no casualties, but artisans and participants said they had suffered great losses as their products were damaged.
The Saras Fair-2016 is being held with the aim of uplifting the rural economy and to make all poor households self-reliant and sustainable through vibrant community-based institutions.
