Sensex crashes 541 pts, Nifty ends at 7812

Dragged by sharp sell-off, the market ended with heavy losses on Tuesday. The Sensex plunged down 541.14 points with a closing at 25651.84.

The Nifty also witnessed a decline of 165.10 points with a close at around 7812.

Among the sectoral indices the metal index was the top laggard with weakness of almost 3.4 percent. Hindalco and Vedanta were the two major stocks that contributed to most losses in the index.
