Strong tremors jolt north India

Strong tremors of 6.8 Magnitude on the Richter scale were felt in northern parts of the country, including the national capital, on Sunday evening.

The epicenter of the earthquake is reported to be 248 kilometres north of Peshawar in Pakistan.

As a precautionary measure, metro services have been temporarily halted in the national capital.

"Earthquake!!!! It was really scary! I could see plants and furniture shaking at 6th floor office of Delhi secretriate. Wish all is well," tweeted Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia.
